    Summer Camps for Kiddos...

Any recommendations for good summer camps for the kiddos (ages 9 and 15).

If they enjoy baseball try Sam Houston's baseball camp. We always send our boy to church camp.

Herman Sons in Comfort. http://www.texashermannsons.org/ Your kids must be a member and pay like 175.00 for the week but they will never forget it and you will never regret it. My daughter went every year she was eligibale and is now a CIT-2 and on her way to being a counselor..

Are they in Boy/Girl Scouts? There are some great summer camps here in Texas, as well as some nice ones in Colorado and Arkansas if your troop wants to get away from the heat.

If not, I hear Grady Spruce (YMCA I think?) on Possum Kingdom Lake is a good one.

I always went to Camp Olympia on Lake Livingston growing up.....when I have kids, that's probably one I'd look at to send them to.

Camp Olympia is a private, overnight Texas Summer Camp with a boys camp and girls camp for ages 6-16. On Lake Livingston in Trinity, TX.

I went to Camp La Junta as a kid in Hunt Texas and absolutely loved it. All outdoor related stuff and a blast

In high school I was a counselor at a camp called outdoor Texas that was called Outdoor Texas Camp. This was started by a man named David Todd and is an absolutely awesome program. He has all sorts of different camps ranging from duck hunting camps, fishing, saltwater, hunting, and it goes on. This camp isn't run by a bunch of random instructors but it is professionals. Dog training champions, survival experts, Haydel game calls, professional fisherman. During the hunting camp, your kid will get his hunter education certificate. There are several different camps like i said that are at different locations based on what they are geared towards.

Definitely check it out, and if you talk to David Todd tell him Patton Drewett sent you

Look at the site and I promise you won't be dissapointed. PM me for questions

Sky Ranch for sports and Christian atmosphere. I had the privilege to be a Sr. Counselor there one summer.

                    Texas Brigades

                    Ages 13-17

                    Wildlife Intensive Leadership Development

The Texas Brigades is a wildlife-focused leadership development program for high school youth (ages 13-17). There are four different camps: Bobwhite Brigade, Buckskin Brigade, Feathered Forces, and Bass Brigade. You will be introduced to habitat management, hone your communication skills, and develop a land ethic. Top wildlife professionals and resource managers serve as instructors and mentors. Each camp is 4 ½ days long.

The camps are held on private ranches and at environmental camps in different areas of the state. In addition to learning animal anatomy and behavior, botany, nutrition, habitat management, population dynamics, etc., you will learn valuable leadership skills. You will write news releases, practice public speaking, and find out how to handle radio and television interviews.

Through these activities, you will develop valuable life skills that will help you regardless of your goals.

If you are interested in biology, conservation, leadership, or just appreciate the outdoors, you should consider applying to one of these camps. Find a career, meet new friends, and become an ambassador for conservation.

Our kids have been going to Laity Lodge for several yrs. It's just north of Leakey. It is a very christian base camp.

Abbie is going to Pine Cove again this year. She loved it last year and we rebooked right away. They have alot of scholarship money available and they encouraged us to apply, even though we didn't think we qualified. They gave us about $400 towards the cost.

From awesome activities and exciting theme nights to deep relationships and outdoor adventures, Pine Cove summer camp will be the best week of your summer.
