1. No need for LEO signoff every time you want to buy an NFA item.
2. You can add other family members over the age of 21 so they can possess the items too.
By rule you are supposed to make sure only you can possess an NFA item transferred to you even in your own home. Specifically, that means your supposed to have a separated safe for your NFA items that your wife or anyone else can not gain access too.
If you do a trust or LLC and add your immediate family members too as members then they can possess or use the item.
For instance, I went the LLC route and me and my wife are members of the LLC. So either of us can possess our SBR.
If something was to happen to me then my wife would not have to go through the trouble of having the weapon transferred to her. She could just keep on owning it or sell it via a Class III dealer if she was so inclined.
If the NFA item is owned by an individual then it's a different story.
The only real cons I know of are:
1. A trust or LLC cost money.
2. With an LLC you have to file tax paperwork with the state every year.
3. A cop that doesn't understand the law may give you grief about the NFA item not being in your name. I've experienced this one at a Gun show.
4. Your wife can touch your NFA toys if she is a member of the trust or LLC.

I'm tired of spending time getting a group of pigs where I want them only to be able to squeeze off one or two before they scatter. Sure would be nice to maximize the encounters
I am clean as a whistle, CHL holder for going on 15 years, so I am not worried about the background, just wondering the easiest way to go about the permit.
