    Suppressor Questions

Ok guys I've been reading alot of threads on here about sbrs and suppressors, and I am ready to take the plunge. I will be contacting Sean Cody and going the trust route. My questions are:

I "believe" I want to go with the YHM Phantom. I really like this because of the QD flash hider, that I could put on multiple rifles and just buy the one silencer. I will be putting it on two of my rifles. From what I read I have to engrave the receiver of both rifles with the name of my trust? Any advice appreciated.

I also am currently building a FN AR 5.7 and I was wondering if this same silencer would work for this gun, since it is a .224 bullet. It is blow back design so would this be good, bad, or indifferent.

    Thanks

I think engraving the receiver is just for SBRs. It was not required on mine but it wasn't done thru a trust

I've never heard of marking the rifles. You didn't say what caliber you were going to put the suppressor on so I have to assume it will work on your .22 centerfire. Not a good as a caliber specific but good enough. If I were going to buy just one my choice would be a .300 whisper. A suppressor really shines when you put it on a subsonic cartridge.

My ar's are 5.56's and the 5.7. The bullets are so close in diameter that I figure it will work but I would love some input from greater intelligence.

my BIL has 3 supressed weapons he brings out to the ranch..one on a 10/22, one on a walther 22 pistol and one on a 5.56 AR...
All I know is don't fire a supressed AR outta a box blind!!! The smoke fills up the blind real quick, I guess from excess blowback gases?? I got off 9 rds with 7kills on pigs before the smoke and my girl-like-gigglin got the better of me

How much did it cost to get the trust set up?

have a suppressor on my .260 rifle and also have a AR in .260---did not have to engrave anything on the rifles and when fired no excess smoke--
what are yall talking about having to set up a trust ????

The phantom is a good robust can...solid as they come but a bit heavier than the others. If I had the extra money, I would have thrown it into a surefire or AAC but got such a good deal from my class iii bud, it would have been foolish to turn the phantom down.

You can run both 5.7 & 5.56 on the phantom...it's full auto rated.

My AR lower was dedicated nfa straight from the factory, so no engraving needed here. If you are not going to run your bbl under 16" then you do not need to worry about it. The suppressor is it's own animal and not tied to any receiver.

wlf, most folks are going the trust route over the LE sign off these days.

I am also considering a suppressor for the AR pig gun. Can someone explain what all the trust entails and what requirements there are for a LEO sign off. I'm tired of spending time getting a group of pigs where I want them only to be able to squeeze off one or two before they scatter. Sure would be nice to maximize the encounters

I am clean as a whistle, CHL holder for going on 15 years, so I am not worried about the background, just wondering the easiest way to go about the permit.

The can will need to be engraved, and if the rifle its going on is an SBR, it will need to be engraved as well. If the rifle isnt, then dont worry about it.

Go with the 7.62 can. You can use it on what you are wanting to and also if you ever decide to go to a 308 you can use it too.

dont mean to highjack this thread, but any opinions on if someone would have problems with LE sign off if someone had documented hearing loss??

I have over a dozen suppressors and I would HIGHLY suggest you go with the new AAC 762 can. You will be able to shoot 223,556,5.7, and 308 through it. It is also a quick detach can.

Sean is a good guy and did my trust.

Good luck, its a addiction and you will be spending ALOT of money.
