    Blood trailing dog?

What is the best blood trailing dog? has anyone ever tried a german shepherd? It seems like they would be good since they are used for there noses all the time.

I think they have a few on wild justice. If they can sniff out all they do I would think they would be more than able to blood trail.

I love Blue Lacys, but hear reports about others.
Just personal preference I guess..some guys like blondes, some brunettes, some guys like other guys!!

I hear a lot of good stuff about the Lacy's, but personally I have seen Jack Russles and Labs work. I kind of thought the lab was an exception to the norm but maybe not...

I hope I need him and her but I have bassett hounds when I do, they have very cold noses on them.

Lots of breeds - just find one that comes from hunting parents and a demeanor you are looking for. A few terrier breeds- a few hound breeds- drawback to hounds is they tend to be slow when they get in on wounded game and get hurt. Good luck and do your research and find what fits you.

                  lots of great suggestions above.

bloodhounds have the best overall sense of smell as they are bred to be "scent hounds" . their large floppy ears and extra skin help pick up the scent when tracking fugitives.

other scent hounds include : beagle , bassett hound , black and tan , coon hound, walker, etc....

german shepherds, labs, and retrievers are more popular service dogs

many breeds will work as each dog is different and will have it's own drive, determination, and personality

                        Are there any recommended breeders?

The Blue Lacy is the state dog of Texas and is a good size dog with a good temperment. If you're interested PM me back. My brother raises them and has a batch on the way right now.

I have a Lacey and about to start training her. I think that it is one of the best over all dogs I have ever had. Very good tempermint and personality.

I was really impressed with my brothers German Shorthair this year. 3 for 3 in heavy cover
