My mail lady delivers most days and never misses delivering two days in a row. A vehicle parked in front of the mail box is a guaranteed non-delivery. I can live with it. At least I know what to expect and a one-day delay is no big deal.
This lady was nine houses away from mine and she just went away.
now earlier in the week we did not get any mail and when he finally delivered it was two days worth of mail.
I went through a lot of issues with our carrier. He would decide when he wanted to pick up the mail and he would decide when he wanted to deliver the mail
I would put mail out on a Tuesday before dawn and it would still be there on Thursday. I filed a complaint, actually many complaints with the postmaster and it went no where. I ended up calling Houston and speaking to the postmaster's boss and the carrier was swiftly removed from our route. This lasted a little over a year and now he is back but no problems so far. We will see
Easy! FedEx, UPS and garbage pickup is privately owned. US Mail is a government run operation and the only government run operation that is on time is the IRS when it comes to fileing taxes and if you owe them money.
I deliver mail. I am a rural carrier in one of the most densely populated areas in Houston. So far once an area is designated rural it is usually not changed to city delivery even though the city takes over the area. Due to the weather our mail has been light for three days. I had 10 parcels today and normally have 50. That may be why you haven't received mail or not much mail. A lot of people have not been mailing things either. A lot of people haven't been taking out the mail I delivered for the last three days. I haven't been picking up much outging from my customers either. I don't know the conditions of the streets where any of you live but sometimes say if your street was flooded or icy or another safety issue we may pass your street up. If we come back with undelivered mail we have to state the reason why it was not delivered and one call will send them to me wanting to know why so I have it documented. As for blocked boxes the manager usually decides what to do. In the past we were allowed to pass up blocked boxes. Some managers still allow it, some say get out. To do it right we would have to park the vehicle ahead of yours, since we are not allowed to back up, set the brake, and turn the engine off, then get out and walk back to your box. Better check before you move your mail box. You will have to provide documentation of a medical necessity to have it at your door if the rest of the street has curb delivery. Parcels to big for the box should be taken to your door unless the house is a certain distance from the box. This is in a true rural setting and since I don't work there I don't know the distance. Yes we are a government agency. To me that means not only do they tell me how to do my job, as they do to some private companies, but they tell us what we can charge for it.
We've been getting our mail about every other day for a week now. Saw the mailman right across the street the other day and he didn't come back until the next day. Our garbage hasn't been picked up in over a week either.
I don't know why they don't go to a 2 or 3 day delivery anyhow. It should save em money but I'm sure they'd figure out how to stay in the red somehow. Very seldom if ever do we get anything that important thru the mail and if it's that important we use UPS. Most bills are paid online but the ones we do get have plenty of time till the due date so an extra day or two wouldn't hurt. Our rural mailman doesn't let anything stop him....I don't recall ever going a day with him delivering. Gotta love a small town though.
