Road conditions around Abilene?

Hey folks, I got a son at ACU that has been planning to drive home to Georgetown Friday night. The campus has been pretty well shut down and he's not a wealth of knowledge about road conditions in and around Abilene. So what's the story on the roads in the area and as you head east towards Brownwood? Thanks for the help!

Talked to my dad just west of there this morning. Said it was pretty rough. I20 was slow at about 10-15 mph. He had to go to town to get range cubes said in town in Abilene wasnt bad but out in the country was rough. Said there was alot of ice on the roads.

Had a friend leave from his ranch between Baird and Putnum yesterday to come to San Antonio. He said it took him 2 hours to get to Santa Anna. Normally you can be in Brady in 2 hours.

Road Conditions

Hey guys, I've been driving in from Buffalo Gap to Abilene everyday for work. The roads are bad, it's been taking me 30 minutes to make it to work. Everything has been closed up since Tuesday, businesses, schools, the mall. There was 230 accidents reported on Tuesday and 200 on Wednesday. I have a 3/4 ton 4 wheel drive and can only travel about 15 to 25 mph safely. (I know others drive slower and faster but not me). I have 50 employees that work for me and I have only had 12 the last 3 days.
The roads are better today than they have been but they will be slick again in the morning. I wouldn't want my kiddo driving on them for sure. I would allow lots of travel time. I have heard that the interstates are getting better as well.
Hope this helps. We do have a forecast of 30% chance of more snow tonight and the high is only suppose to be 32 tomorrow so it will only make the current conditions linger a little longer.

Yep. Roads are worse than I've ever seen this week. It looks like it may be Saturday before they finally melt off.

High is supposed to be 33 tomorrow. If the sun would come out, he might be able to get along just fine tomorrow afternoon. Just have to wait and see. If he needs help with anything, have him give me a shout. I live close to ACU, and my wife works there. 669-7296

Shane, thanks a ton man! He just called a while ago reporting no classes again tomorrow. At this point I'm leaning towards the side of caution.

I live in Coleman. Hwy 153 is iced over bad today at 4:30. The major roads should be better by tomorrow afternoon, but I dont think I would let my kid try it.

My dad is East TX working this week and was planning on picking my mom up in Dallas tomorrow evening and heading back home to Midland, how stupid of a trip do you think that is? also is it going to get any better on the weekend?
