    6.0 EGR Delete Kit

What kind of luck have you guys had with these? I am replacing the oil cooler as well. Can you tell a difference in the way it runs or anything like that? I hear everyone talking about how bad the 6.0 is and all that but I havent had any problems until the past month. I am hesitating when I accelerate from a stop or yeild sign so I am putting a delete kit on if this thread goes good. LOL.

If you live where you think the inspection persons won't check, delete it and get much lower egt and cleaner oil. Pull your egr and see what it looks like. Should be super dry soot. If it's soggy or damp or clean as a whistle you have a egr cooler leak. Also, you may want to consider an upgraded heat exchanger style cooler if inspection will be an issue.

Why would the inspection station check. Diesels only require a safety inspection

Without programming the check engine light comes on, thus a fail, but what you describe doesn't sound like EGR problem to me. Are you blowing white smoke and drinking coolant. Thats what mine did and it was my first symptom no issues before that.

technically you arent supposed to remove any emissions eqipment from the vehicle unless its for offroad use only OR at least thats the stated law to my understanding. that being said, its been my experience that most dont even know where it is on a diesel and typically dont even pop the hood or look under the truck .easiest way to tell if its a leaky egr cooler is to just pull it and look. if any moisture whatsoever has gotten in there you will be able to see.

It will blow a little white smoke when I step on it after it hesitates. That's the only time. Blow black smoke when it hesitates too.

You can block it if you want. Resale will be an issue. You are money ahead to repaipir it the correct way.

i have personally installed alot of them and they have ranged from me constructed a kit to people buying kits and the best by far is the one that includes the exhuast up pipe that deletes the flex pipe a little more work but once you delete that it reduces any chances of exhaust leaks caused by the pipe flexing

why would you not just unplug the EGR? you can always just plug it back in later if needed. Unplugging mine was the first thing i did when i brought my 6.0 home from the dealer. 101,000 trouble free miles so far.

well if the cooler is already blown then its gonna continue to blow white smoke and have coolant loss just unplugging the valve wont do anything for it

I've done a bunch of these, delete the egr, replace the cooler, and while you have it out pull the turbo apart and check the unison ring for the turbo gates. I have had a couple that were cracked and most that wouldn't move. You can get the part from ford but if it isn't cracked and you can get it off without breaking it then you need to clean the surface it rides on and clean the ring. I do this with a wire brush and a gasket remover buffing pad. If this ring is stuck you won't get boost at the right time or you'll get to much boost and mess with the computer.
