Have someone from the TBH Braintrust to call him and inquire about his place. See if he is shopping for new leasees and if so, how much for each hunter. At least you will know his intent before you make any rash decisions.

We helped keep the place up with repairs and picking up trash. Most the trash was feed sacks blowing out of his truck and his empty cigarette packs he threw out the window. We would pitch in to have a maintainer come in to fix roads and bridges on the place. Fix any down fences we found and let him know in case he was missing any cattle. He was killed in an auto accident and the family had to sale the place. But we found out from his family he had been approached several times by people offering him more money for the lease. He would always tell them no and that he was happy with his hunters. We had an excellent relationship and were able to treat the place as we would are own.If we saw something that needed attention we just took care of it.What was really neat with having a group of guys together this long was being able to see three generations of hunters able to hunt together.Pretty cool seeing an original member able to hunt with his grandson on the same piece of property.A lot of good memories.

My thoughts exactly Deb...this is how it was for us until someone put the bug in our lease landlords ear that he could get more for it...we poured our heart and soul into that lease for over 15 years and treated the land like it was ours keeping it clean, clearing roads, maintaining fences, and even workin' on the ol man's house & barn off the property...he reciprocated by working around our hunting schedules and keeping the prices pretty stable...never a contract signed, just a handshake agreement between gentlemen...it was a sad day to see it go...

I'd say your guy is probably shopping for new folks and it would go a long way if you had a face-to-face conversation with him about your concerns...just a thought

He is getting a better price for the lease from neighbors. Get your stuff and move on. You don't want to loose stands and feeder to someone else that would be a beat.
