    A legal question....

Okay, we all know that it's illegal to sell any part of a deer.
Please don't let this get off track!!!
We have some famous little jerky stands all around TX that sales any kind of jerky imaginable, including deer, elk, rattle snake and my favorite, turkey jerky.
My question is: How is it legal for them to sell deer meat? Or any of the other game animals in that case....

There is a small shop in oklahoma that sells every kind of meat known and I always wondered how they did it legally.

      Good question

        Whitetail.
These are stores that sale the jerky. Not individuals.

all of the "deer meat" jerky I have seen says venison on the package. all deer meat is venison. it is not against the law to sell venison from exotics or non game species

Think I read somewhere one time....and not sure if this is true or not....that you had to have some sort of permit to sell it.....again not 100% sure

That's the reason they gave me when I asked them but it still didn't make since to me.....

The law says "No part of a deer can be sold!"
It doesn't say "Unless farm raised...."

                    Still stumped.
I'm not asking in efforts to sell. I'm just curious. And I believe the price they charge for the jerky is a criminal act on it's own. Lol

And I didn't think that it was illegal to sell any part of a deer. I thought the hide, horns, bones and such could be sold.

                            Any part, even the guts.
I know I'm gonna jack up the spelling but the book uses the native word for guts - Sinew - pronounced sig-new..... (spelling???)

I've been told that most of the venison you buy at restaurants and grocery stores is axis deer. Since it's non-native and classified as an exotic, it's probably not governed as a whitetail would be...especially if it's raised on a ranch for production like cattle is.
