    named by gsp georgia (female)

like kansas for a male, or get a texas map and look at some towns or places where you hunt bye. Liberty and Hardin not bad for a male for starters.....kinda

My parents dog is not a hunting dog but his name is Simba from Lion King. I've always liked it. I want a chocolate lab and I want to name her Nala from the movie. But I can give the standard answer of Butch or Bear...

Old country music stars are the best names. My yellow lab is Hank, and our next one will either be Cash, Merle, or Waylon.

Or go the standard route and name him after your favorite brand of hunting gear, but try to keep it to one syllable so you can yell it quicker.

whatever you name him go stand on the back porch and yell it out loud three times in a row... because that's how you're gonna use it out in the field. this will quickly show you that you aren't gonna call him some fancy pants name like "Buckingham" or "Tyrone" - it'll get abbreviated on a hunt in a hurry!

My Dad always used one syllable names for his bird dogs - easier to use when you yell at em' ie: Buck, Belle, Jake, etc
