But lets just say, that he didn't buy a license, didn't kill anything, got checked, surely the fine would still be more than the license. Wouldn't it????
The fact that he is from out of state probably would be to his detriment. I would think that the state can determine where the license was purchased from and I agree, she should be turned in and she should be getting a visit from the local game warden for that area.
My cousin comes in from out of state almost every year to hunt with me and always buys his Texas-Nonresident hunting license. When I go over to hunt with him, I buy my out of state license too. It is more expensive no doubt and I guess a necessity, but it's the law. I would never want to play the 'what if" game with the courts. I think technically, whatever weapons and equipment he has on him can be seized as well so it could involve more that just paying a fine and possibly restitution.
Besides, since he is from out of state I am guessing they could also instanter him, which could mean he could be arrested on the spot.
I am not sure how that would look to your bosses when he doesn't show up for work because he got arrested for not purchasing a hunting license.
I travel out of state and hunt and it does cost me more money to do it because I am not a resident of those states but when out of staters come here to hunt, they have to pay the higher price too. It's just the law and we should all respect it and do our part ethically to support it. Report the lady at Wal-Mart! JMTC.

I have no desire to "get somebody's job", especially this time of the year. Some other "Bone Head" probably made that comment to her, while shellin out the $300+ bucks, and thought that made sense!!!
If I see him, I'll find out which store it was. It had to be anywhere from Palestine to Carthage, since he came up Hwy 79 from Marquez.

So we plan a hunt this past weekend and on the way, he stops at a wally world to buy his out of state license. The lady behind the counter told him he would be better off not buying one!!!
She said the fine was cheaper if he got caught than paying $315 for a license!!!
He told her, NAH, I'll buy the license!!
So, I got to thinkin no way it could be cheaper, fine vs. license. Anybody know what the fine is??
And then I wonder how many people have took her advice!!!
Turn the clerk in for aiding and abeting the violation of game laws. TPWD would be interested in hearing your story. What she is doing is helping folks steal from you and me. Your friend did the right thing. Congratulations to him. God bless.
