What's the fine for No Hunting License?

There's a guy workin at the plant I know that is from Ks. He is on a job that will take him till the 1st of the year. He's kinda bummed out that he will miss rifle season in his home state. So I invited him out to my place in E Tx to hunt. So we plan a hunt this past weekend and on the way, he stops at a wally world to buy his out of state license. The lady behind the counter told him he would be better off not buying one!!!
She said the fine was cheaper if he got caught than paying $315 for a license!!!
He told her, NAH, I'll buy the license!!
So, I got to thinkin no way it could be cheaper, fine vs. license. Anybody know what the fine is??
And then I wonder how many people have took her advice!!!

It might be true until he killed something. Price would go up a bunch then.

The fine would not be what I would be concerned about. The restitution for any deer he killed illegally would be the butt kicker.....

This for sure, the fine may not be bad bust restitution can get crazy on a buck. I know a guy that poached a 180 class buck out of season and it cost him about 14k in restitution.

That's what I was thinking too.
But lets just say, that he didn't buy a license, didn't kill anything, got checked, surely the fine would still be more than the license. Wouldn't it????

My brother got a ticket for not having a license about 10 years ago, he had came to camp that morning for breakfast, our lease was about 5 miles from his house and the warden showed up and said he was hunting and he gave him a ticket, he didnt even have a gun and was in his work clothes, back then it was $250 so who knows what it is now. It was a bad deal but the fee's to fight it were more than the ticket so he paid it.
