And Like I wrote in my first post, There are large signs in my local Academy stating their policy.
If you truly had no idea they had a no return policy, you could try to work that angle when you go in tomorrow. Ask them how they communicate the policy to customers. If they say there is a form you signed, ask them to produce the form with your signature on it.
But I still think you're gonna be out of luck. I'd try Academy early in the morning and if its a no go; get on the phone with Rossi. Maybe they can diagnose the problem over the phone and overnight you the part to fix it.

They sold a non-functioning rifle to a customer, how is it not their fault? Exchange it, and move on. I didn't realize that concept was so radical.
Why is that concept so radical?

Of all people I would think a military man would understand this.

I can certainly understand the frustration of having to break the news to your child, but there are several here who have offered to lend him a gun for his daughter to use.
Is it a crappy situation, YES. If you know the policy up front should you expect them to break policy just this once, just for me? NOOriginally posted by N Dubya View PostYou're right, I sure am a jerk for hoping he doesn't he doesn't have to go through all that mess. I hope the next weapon I buy from Academy blows up in my hands...that ought to teach me a lesson. I don't know if he's familliar with Academy's firearm policy, or not. The ONLY people that generally are, are folks who have purchased firearms from them before. Direct your questions at the op............I was simply wishing him luck.
Your reply above may be a bit dramatic for the situation. I never called or inferred that you were a jerk, nor do I see how a gun blowing up in your hand fits into this thread.
However, since you brought it up, IF you bought a gun from Academy and it blew up in your hand you would still need take it up with the manufacturer.

The answers are.....
1. Because they operate on small margins and hire people who they don't give enough authority to actually make decisions and do the right thing.
2. "Yes, of course, darling. That's my job, no matter how hard Rossi or Academy try to screw it up....."

2) Yes, because daddy is already working on getting you one to use until yours is fixed. A bunch of my friends over at the bowhunting forum have offered to let you use theirs.

OK...thanks for all the comments. I posted needing to know about Academy's firearm return policy, which I now know is non-existent. I was looking for personal experience with dealing with them and I received that. I also was generously offered to borrow rifles for my daughter which I greatly appreciate.
Thanks,
Brandon
