Need Help---To Shoot or Not to Shoot

My buddy had this buck at 15 yards for about 10 min and isn't sure if this would qualify for a management buck. He'd hate to shoot it and have the owner tell him its his trophy buck. We've been supplementing this ranch for 4 years now and there are several 170" class deer.
I'm telling him that he's a mature buck, as good as he's going to get and we need to get him out of the breeding pool.
Although a very nice buck, he's just not what he's competing against as far as tine length, mass, and tine width. I'm telling him to shoot and he's not convinced.
    What do you all think.

I'm going to say he's old old old and past his prime.

Either he's old or someone has been riding him hard. That's a DEEP sway in his back.

I"m not so sure... look at his head and neck. the skin is tight throughout his neck. His head doesn't look "short" like an older deer. the area where his head meets his neck is not filled out. that head and that neck looks identical to a 4.5 year old deer on my lease, and another place I hunt.

Still photos are nearly impossible to get a solid age off of, but I don't see that as a slam dunk old deer.
