i was in the same situation 2 weeks ago except mine was a lot smaller and was a 5 and a half year buck and now i was told after that there was a 150 class buck around my stand and that i wasn't aloud to take my trouphy buck because the one i took was 13 inches and that was labled as my trouphy. So i understand that conflicting choice in that shoot.

If you were to shoot a typical 6 x 5 on my ranch and try to pass it off as a management deer, I would laugh you right off the ranch. That deer is kicking out alot of points.. I am sure there are alot more lesser deer on that ranch with only 9 points or less that would easily qualify as a real management deer. You are just trying to shoot a 12 pt ( with kicker off of brow), and justify it by calling it a management deer.. Let that old boy die of old age..

Ultimately I would ask the landowner what he thinks. If it were my ranch I would take him out.

I've seen some big roman noses, but that deer doesn't have one.
he does have a sway in his back, but so far that is the only reason I have seen for him being past his prime...
if there is that much uncertainty, take some video of him and show him to the owner, like cosmic mentioned.Last edited by kyle1974; 11-15-2010, 03:48 PM.

There's quite a bit of difference between that deer and the one the OP is talking about don't you think?
