    Arrows after the Kill

Never really ran into this back a few years ago. If I took an animal I would not reuse this arrow/broadhead for my quiver. Practice maybe. What does everyone think? Does it mess up an arrow and broadhead after the kill and do you reuse them? If so what needs to be done beside sharpining it?

If the arrow is good, I will reuse it. I clean it and flex test it. I always use a new broadhead.

Clean up the arrow with warm water. Check for nicks, deep scratches, etc. Sharpen or replace blades and let fly on next critter........REPEAT! Also, take your NOCK out and clean as sometimes blood settles in the inside.

After washing my arrow and taking off the broadhead, I check it for nicks, scratches, and any other damage. I then check the arrow for straightnes by spinning it. It mus have absolutely NO wobble. Next I put a field point on the arrow and shoot it to check for accuracy. If all is well, then I reuse the arrow. I screw on a new broadhead and put the arrow in my quiver. I have been doing this for years and have never had a problem. I have killed several deer with one arow before a deer bent it or broke it. Some broadheads can be sharpened but you may throw it off balance by taking off too much material off one blade. I figure a deer, a clean kill, and in the light of getting a good recovery, it's worth it to use a new broadhead. One can get replacment blades and "make a new broadhead" pretty easily.

Clean off the arrow and reuse it...after the flex test of course. Then for the broadhead I save my used ones for hogs...just resharpen them. I usually use new for deer hunting!

I shoot snuffers, so I use the same broadhead as long as it is not damaged. I spin test it, then re-sharpen if it spins true. Then the arrow gets a bath, glanced over. Then the same broadhead/arrow combo goes back into the quiver. I will grab a used arrow out of my quiver before a new one. The used one has some experience

My best arra ever had 3 deer, 4 hogs and a turkey killed with it, and only 2 broadheads, then the 5th hog broke it... It was a Gold Tip Big Game 100, one of the early ones when they first had the ugly camo green ones... sure wish they made those same arrows still...
