buddy of mine shot a 200 inch buck about 5 years ago. The buck had been caught in a trap the year before just a couple hundred yards from where he ended up killing it.

use the figure 6 trap with no top. I wish the state would make it illegal to use that kind of trap.

          DO NOT USE DIESEL CORN!!!!

Never a good idea to just pour diesel on the ground!

When trapping hogs (expecialy in a trap with a top) ALWAYS use soured corn.....in fact always use soured corn and you will never trap a deer.

Snares Can be even worse. I wouldn't let the state trapper use them on our place. They used one large pen trap baited with soured corn only, and a .308 with night vision and supressor

I have caught deer in the push door type traps. I suggest fastening a 50 foot rope to the door of the trap and tieing it off to a tree about 50 feet away in the brush. You must allow for your door to close properly. You can release a deer from a distance without pressuring it by simply pulling the rope. If the deer survived the catch he should survive the release with no problem. CC

Worked on a ranch in Bradford, Tx and we had an older guy trapping hogs on it. Well he caught a massive buck in one of his traps. I didn't get to see it, but he said that it would hvae went over 180"! If i would hvae seen it, i would hvae gotten some pictures. Rumored that it had escaped from Jack Brittinghams place not to far from the ranch i worked on. We have caught many doe's in traps on a buddy's place.

I've seen a 182" buck in a trap before.... It sucks coming up to a site like that because your pretty convinced he's going to kill himself. Luckily he was really calm and didnt injury himself at all. I've caught several does and young bucks in traps.

We caught a doe once in the hog trap , it sounded like a ragging bull hitting the metal fencing pipe , got her out in one piece, she'd cut her nose a little. soured corn would be best, deer wont eat it. That was at home... Few years back at my cousins ranch we caught a ferral hog in the trap and it had a busted snare tightly around its snaught , don't know how it was eating because that snare was dug into its skin already, you could not even tell at first till you actually tried to open it's mouth...
