Never seen this but my 30 yr son told me he saw the bull of the woods this past Sat morning, a buck with massive mass, 8 or 10 pt and the body of a quarter horse. A group of three mature does saw him and actually went to him. I guess size matters. He observed from 130 yards. That night he swore he'd be hunting that stand....... with a 23 yard shot. Big Buck did not represent the next morning. I guess that's why he's big.

On the size matters thing. I want to say about 20 years or so ago, my cousin saw a little 6 pt try to mount a doe, but she laid down as she saw the big 9 pointer that she wanted to do her, LOL.

      That's all I got.

I had never seen it before either, but I saw a nice 8 make a scrape saturday right at dark. I was waiting for the 3 point under my feeder to leave before I got out of the stand. That 8 came in and ran a little 3 point out from under the feeder, then walked halfway up the hill, pulled a branch down and made a scrape. Unfortunately, it was too dark for me to get a shot off.

                    Yep.

Rut is when the does QUIT running away.

Pre-rut is when the bucks WISH it was time, but it isn't time yet.

They are starting to run doe pretty hard in Williamson County! I've also found about 10 scrapes out at the ranch that are really getting worked over.

I had a very nice 9 pt top a doe in the back yard Friday the 15th around 7:30am. I went to physical therapy at 8am. back home by 9:30 in time to see him top another one. Not sure if it was the same one, too many does to keep up with. They've been running does hard here in Lago Vista for a few weeks. Last nite ole Rudolph ( my pet) runs the big 9 off and topped a doe across the street. I live on the golf course and the deer put on quite a show. You can learn alot while on the deck with a brew. Believe me the rut is in full swing here. I hunt up near Jarrell and see little to no signs there. I did take pictures of the whole thing but the wife made me delete them.

Easy now, slow y'alls roll...way too early. That said, bucks are checking and following does all over Wimberley. I even saw a mature buck following a doe.

I was in Kerr county all weekend and saw does and bucks together and bucks still running together. I was around Center Point. No sign of the rut where I was... maybe soon.
