I distress rabbit call in my bag. Works pretty good. In the morning when i walk to my stand I will get my grunt call out and grunt on my way to the stand. I dont try to be sneaky I just walk at a normal pace and try to be as quite as possible.
Your buddy complains because he has to come pick you up? Sounds like you need a new buddy.
Outside of that..wait till after dark and then just get out as quiet as possible. Deer take on a much more relaxed demeanor after dark and should just trot off as opposed to going to the next county.
I usually wait until it's as dark as it's going to get, then squeal like a pig. Make a deep "RRREEEEEEEEEEEET!!!" sound and then immediately climb down as quietly as possible. When I get on the ground I'll make a few grunt sounds like a hog.
It works. I've got off stand that way and then hunted the same stand the very next morning and had the same deer there at first light.
cut a slit and crawl out the back but spray doe urine on yourself first so as to not upset them they will never know the difference and who knows may thank you later.
Hmmm...... Good thoughts. My blind is about 20' in the air so I stick out like a sore thumb coming down. I've tried the rabbit squeak, they just look in my direction and keep eating. The pig is a good idea. I hunt coyotes and have a electronic FoxPro caller that I thought about using with coyote sounds, but I could use pigs too. On the buddy comment- hilarious! I will have to tell him that. He's just ****** he has to walk back a half mile after only seeing a few deer, and I have 30 deer in front on me. I think that he thinks that I just don't want to have to walk back. What else!
Get a remote push button key-chain to set off your feeder..They sell for like 30 bucks at academy...
I thought about that until it went off with does under it and they stood there and never moved. Not a bad idea anyhow. Can I hook one to a lifetime solar elite feeder?
I laughed like a fool last season trying to run off two spikes. They came in late in the morning and just hung around trying to find every last kernel. I threw rocks, a water bottle, and finally tossed arrows at them. They wouldn't leave
I finally slowly lowered my bow down and climbed down out of the tripod. They ran off a little ways but were back at the feeder before I was out of sight.
Just ease out of the stand slow and quiet like and they might not spook as bad as you think, especially if it is dark. I've done it many times.
