On the lifetime license price tag I cant see that its worth it anymore, last year before prices increased yes but not an more. Do the math and figure out how long it will take you to break even, now for a young kid maybe, but who knows if they will ever get their moneys worth out of it and stick to hunting. If you were about to move out of state and planned to still hunt texas then you could see your investment pay for itself it around 5 years. I think they have their reasons obviously but they priced themselves out of the market IMO.

As far as the original question I think you need to do some more research.

Maybe I dont understand. Does a TPWD biologist not get paid by the state and fees we pay. I am going to have a serious talk with the lessor at the end of year. It is good to have the extended season and extar permits being on mld land.

I fully agree these prices are cheap, but I just want to see that that money is being used properly. Just becasue an owner has thousands of acres, he should not have more influence over them. I bet a small landowner would be kicked out of the program.

Is it too much to shoot 33% of your bucks and 50% doe population as biologist recommends.

this is always one of my favorite threads. For what we get I think Texas has the absolute best prices around.

I should have phrased title better (where does money go). Is there a way to change?

Please keep this quiet. Politicians and Anti's will increase it even more. Think I paid $85 this year.

Sounds to me like your beef is more with the landowner not doing what is recommended by the biologist than with the cost of licenses?

Your license fees go toward considerably more than paying biologists. State Parks, trailways, fish hatcheries, restocking programs, game wardens, youth programs, hunter education..... I could go on.

                  winner, winner chicken dinner

TB hit the nail on the head ...... sounds like the landowner is managing the land as he sees fit, and disregarding the biologists recommendations

Good point compared to my Leases Annual Cost of 4000.00 the little 100.00 bucks on a License is nothing . Best Family money I spend on my kids and wife a year.

There not, this year I decided that since I have not hunted dove for 3 years and I have not turkey hunted in 3 years and I have not gone fishing in at least 3 years i would be good just buying a hunting lic. It only cost 30 something bucks.

I recently got my Ok lifetime license before I came back to Texas, $775 for combo hunting and fishing. I will recieve full benefits of buying it within 2 years since I still hunt and fish their... I was told that they were going way up in December of this year.

LA is a lot cheaper for their residents, but they put it to non-residents, LA non-resident licenses are about 25% higher than TX non-resident licenses. Thank God they have the LA Native licenses, that's the only way I could afford it.

I have no problem with the annual hunting license rate. I seriously doubt I'll live long enough to make the lifetime license worth the expense.
