I told him i felt bad for making ruts and he laughed some more and said don't worry about it, the land will change anyway, especially next time it rains. I agree if you can't make it through in 4wd without getting burried, then yes stay off the roads. Your typical ruts made by a 4wd truck, in my mind, aren't anything to get upset over or make rules against. In the end though, it's up to the landowner.

It cost me $6000 to get my roads back in top shape after my Turkey hunters left last April. It rained every day they were there and they insisted on leaving the camp in individual trucks every hunt. Let's see- 5 trucks, in and out, twice a day for 5 days. I told them they could come back next year, if they would leave me a $5000 road deposit. A little respect for the landowner sure goes along way towards future considerations.

I understand everyones point. The only thing is if the land owner would allow 4 wheelers or golf cart or some other kind of transportation. I was on a lease like 12 years ago and it rained every weekend i was there at some point or time and i went 8 weekends. Just seems like a lot of wasted money if i had spent over $4000 dollars on lease, corn, protein, etc and not be able to hunt.

Wow, if we were not allowed to drive on a road on our lease after a rain we would never hunt. Our lease is all bottome land and almost all trails hold water all winter. We use 4 wheelers only and we often travel in water close to the seat in certain areas. We fix the roads once a year. We have some pretty bad ruts but no one tries to tear them up, its just nature of the beast where we hunt and the timber company knows it and has no problem with it.

The main reason we don't allow trucks is because everybody drives big diesel 3/4 tons that are heck on the roads.
