Who all have stipulations regarding driving on your roads after raining. Someone said on there lease after any measurable rain they can not drive for 24hrs. What's ya'll thoughts? It's a large lease also your not walking to your stands. Also no 4 wheelers or any other type allowed

Lease Rules Regarding Rain

I had road usage rules on ALL leases that I used to run. No certain day period that it had to sit, just were not allowed to drive on the roads if they were muddy enough to leave ruts. These 2 ranches were 7000 & 9000 acres, so the sizes of the ranch does not matter. If it is muddy and you want to hunt, then wear your walking shoes to get to the blind. It is not rocket science, it is respect for the landowner.

That rule drove me off a place we leased in Archer County. It was about a mile drive on a dirt road from the County Road to the camp. I guess it had to do with the soil there but after an inch or more of rain you had to use 4wd and it would rut it up pretty bad. The roads to the stands were basically impassable for several days. The landowder didn't want us in there for 48 hours after a rain of 1" or more. The last year we had it, untimely rain canceled 3 or 4 hunting weekends I had marked off on the calendar. I understood the landowners point but we couldn't even get to camp after a rain much less to our stands

We have a no trucks past camp rule all the time. We dont allow trucks on our roads anytime but utv/atv are fine even if it is raining. IMO it is hard to tell a guy he cant hunt because it rains if he is down there and has taken time off work to go hunting. Roads maintence is the responsibility of the land owner and by leasing it to you for hunting the are assuming some risk of you tearing up there roads (within reason).
