We had a 7' hog trap and had one climb out of it. We did not see it, but all we had was a tripped gate and a huge impression in the dirt where the hog landed.

i worked in the arena durring the dog bay competion at the sabinal wild hog festival many moons ago. i was there for 3 yrs in a row. every year we would have at least 1 or 2 150 lb boars jump right over the 5 foot cattle panels and make their grand escape. most of the time someone waiting for their turn would turn their dogs loose and catch the renegade. before watching that, i would have never guessed a pig can jump a 5 foot fence.

Taking them out of the Ecosystem is the best way. As tuthdoc says KAP (kill all pigs). They are becoming a real nuisance and I know of no other alternative to killing them. Shoot pigs and then hunt deer, because deer don't like pigs anyhow. 140 and counting. mike

I have hog pannels aroun my feeders and have NEVER had a hog jump or climb over. They circle the pen like wild indians and push on it, but with the aid of plenty of T-posts, they never get in. My experience.

I have seen a big boar go over a 6' panel in an oval trap wih ease,,his landing wasnt yet perfected but his ascent was great other than the fact I lost a good 250 pound hog..I make all of my traps 7' now and still lose hogs once in a while. Something that will help is no corners. If they want in they will get in

                  Great video Mary.
Like Tim said, if they have a corner and there are more than a couple in the trap, they pile up in the corner and climb out using the other pigs like stepping stones.

I think approx 3' will keep majority of them out and the deer will still be comfortable going in
