    gun carrying question

I travel allot. and last time I went to DFW I had some punk screwing with me when I was driving to the hotel from chilli's.

I would like have my pistol with me, BUT will not leave it in the car at the hotel. Can I carry my pistol into the hotel room legally? Does the car being an extension of your home apply to hotels?

I do not have my CHL yet. just havent been willing to give up a saturday yet.

Not on you, but in a bag or computer bag, to and from your auto is OK.

I do it all the time. I just put my gun in my luggage, carry it in to the hotel and, if I'm going to leave the hotel and not take it with me, I lock it up in the room's safe. If the room doesn't have a safe, ask the concierge if they have a safe it can be kept in. Don't tempt the housekeeping staff.

my company pays for pretty nice hotels. havent seen one yet without a safe.

But thanks guys that is what I was looking for! I am also doing a TBH express for someone. I am not leaving their weapon in the car either.

Redneck Archer - get your CHL bro!! It doesn't take long and then you never have to worry about it.

It is as simply as that. There is no requirement for a bag or case but that might be the prudent way to carry it.

Unless you have a few beers at a friends house.

Hotel staff can get into the in-room safes. They have to every time a guest checks out and leaves the safe locked.

Most hotels have safe deposit boxes, and you should be given the only key to it.

you have always been able to keep a gun in your hotel room. just as you have been able to protect your home, the hotel room is your home. i would get the chl though as it makes things a lot easier.

The only requirement regarding carrying it to the hotel room is that it remains concealed.

Where does any law say that a handgun is required to be concealed when en route to a home or vehicle under a person's control?
