    This has come up before.
When you are new here you might not want 16,283 people knowing your first and last name, the city you live in, where you hunt, and what you do for a living.
After all, this IS the internet and there are less than upstanding people out there.

Once people are here a while and realize this is not like all the other message boards out there and are more comfortable they will update their info.... if they think about it.

Not federal, but LEO. Fairly unique name. Paranoid? No. Cautious? Yes.

Over the past 16 years I've had threats against myself and family for doing my job. More concerned about family.

I just recently completed the appraisal district form also.

If someone really wants to find me, they will, but I'm not going to make it easy for them.

Yup...same thoughts here, just to lazy to type it out again.

Im sure somebody could find me, but they would have to get through my closed gate...800 feet up my driveway.... past the dogs...Ma and the boys...my front door...my little friend...then they get to me...

I had mine in there for a long time but took it out some time ago. As said elsewhere, it's a hunting forum, hunters own guns and are away hunting, etc.
Just decided to be safer than sorry.

Part of my name is there. Part of it isn't...
Kinda thought maybe leaving my last name off, so when I post that I'm going hunting, the world wouldn't know my wife is home alone or the house is ready to be robbed...

We live in the boonies...lots of twists and turns and backroads...if someone is out there they are there for a reason...not just a joyride. Far enough from town to not have people follow and dirt roads to help discourage them from getting too close. We would rather be paranoid than naive and think it couldn't happen to us. We don't have CHL's ...and not planning to unless it gets worse, which it will.

Wife's ex-stepdad - leo "wacko/warrior want to be" used to park outside our house 2 moves ago. Either he died or found someone else to terrorize...and leaving it at that.

Gas has been siphoned from 2 vehicles in my driveway...dogs never barked. Tried again after installing locking gas caps...almost couldn't fill up with gas from them jacking with it.

Son riding his bike was run over by a girl on a 4wheeler, turned in police report with her identity...nothing done. He jumped off and wasn't hurt but the bike was ruined...she thought chasing him was a fun game. Found her on Facebook...smoking and drinking at 16 with pictures of it, parents never home always in Vegas partying (no parental supervision) dresses like a hooker.

I am not scared, I would rather just not have to deal with not being prepared. If something really bad enough happened...I have a backhoe and a cutting torch and can make it disappear forever. LOL

There was a thread on here quite a while ago about such things as this as this and the concensus was that it might not be a good thing to put all your personal information on your profile. After reading that thread and thinking about it, I left my first name and put only the first letter of my last name.

Some of you are a little paranoid, but let me help you be a little more skeered. With $ 6.00 and web access, i can find out anything about you that i want. Where you live, where you lived before, what you drive, etc, sometimes even your SS# and DL#. Its not hard. To be on a public forum is already exposing your IP and MAC address. You can be tracked by that. Sounds crazy, but very easy to do. I figure if someone really wants to find me, there going to find me. I don't post alot of pictures of guns, etc, but thats what security systems, dogs and my piece on my side are for. . . JMO!
