I'm becoming more and more tempted to require full names to register and post at all. Seems to work well on another forum I semi-frequent.

I would never post here again if you did that. There are 2 gun boards that I frequent that have had problems with someone gettimg mad over something posted online and going after the poster im real life. One of the incidents was over a photoshopped picture and resulted in the guy in the picture calling the other guys employer and making allegations of child ****ography and other criminal activity. Fact is there are people who will try to ruin someone over nothing and anything that makes it easier is a bad idea.

Also, a lot of people use the same screennamd on multiple websites so if you say something on anothsr website, 5 seconds in google will get them here.

Y'all are nuts for posting anything other than very basic personnel infomation online. Most of the cases of going after people on the other boards were done after piecing together info posted over hundreds of post.

I am pretty sure mine is. If someone wants to find you bad enough they will. True filling the profile out may make it easier, but thats it.

Fact is you never know what will set someone off. The photoshop picture was nothing bad and a lot of people that it was funny. The guy who got mad was upset because it embarassed him. Heck, some PETA nut could get upset with you for posting pictures of dead animals and decides they want to discuss it in person with a bomb.

I'm pretty sure I have most of my stuff blocked from the public since I'm a federal LEO. I just sent off another annual form to have me taken off the appraisal district search engine.

Now if I could just have a few people lose my number so they can't call me anymore and leave childish voicemails but we all got a kick out of it.
