I am 6'4", 215lbs with 36" waist. I cant wear an off the rack suit to save my life.
They were tailoring the suit to fit me. That is why I was upset. This is my first suit purchase and I thought that by going to a "Suit Store" I would get something that fit me right. Maybe you always have to do this? I don't know. Just somemore wasted time. It will be alright I guess.

I 100% understand the frustration...Im just not shocked it didnt fit great. Kind of like Im not shocked when the 18yo girl at Academy jacks up my hunting license.
Off the rack suits are made to fit portly out-of-shape dudes, as best I can tell. I wear a 46R jacket, and the pants that always come with those are about 4-6" too big in the waist. Then, the jackets are always cut really big in the gut area. If you can get an athletic cut jacket and buy matching pants separately so you can get the size you need, that helps a lot.
I actually bought a suit at Wal-Mart a year or two ago, believe it or not. I was walking by and saw them hanging there and thought they actually looked nice. Not the usual crappy-looking stuff they always have. It's fully lined and really nice looking material. Jacket wasn't made for a beer belly, and the pants were separate. I paid a total of about $85, and it's my favorite suit. I get compliments on it. People look at me like I'm joking when I tell them I bought it at Wal-Mart.
It had to have been some kind of mistake for Wal-Mart to have them. I've been looking for more in different colors ever since, but all they ever have is the cheap-looking stuff. Just blind luck on a one time shot, I guess.

Take this as coming from a friendly source and someone who buys and wheres suits often (not that I enjoy it). First of all, calm down! It will be alright. We need you thinking clearly to get this suit looking good.
Second, if you are going to have to pay for any of the next round of alterations, you might want to reconsider having the same tailor do them. You might be better off finding a better tailor and paying them to do it. Forcing the store to try to do something that they don't have the ability to do is not going to get you anywhere. What concerns me is that they did not do it right the first time, so I am concerned that they won't get it right the second time. Look at the guys working in the store and see if their suits fit right. If not, thats a red flag and I would not let them alter my suits. Take it elsewhere, the store is usually going to charge you to alter it anyway.
With regard to the leg length: This is an easy fix. I would suggest calmly trying to get them to do this for free. If they won't, try harder. If that doesn't work, refer to the paragraph above. Take the boots with you, so the new tailor can get the exact length.
A good tailor (or even an average tailor) can take in or let out the waist and/or rear end. This is possible support for my second paragraph.
Did they do any work to the jacket? Most folks will need work done to the jacket. Even if the belly, shoulders and sleeves fit right (which would be rare), there is often a "roll" in the middle of the shoulder blades that needs to be fixed. A good tailor can alter the suit jacket for a better fit.
Their is a difference between "tailoring" and "altering". It is the common practice of the day to call it all "tailoring", I get that and I correct my wife on it all of the time. When you buy a suit off the shelf, you will always have to have it altered to fit, unless you are freakishly average. I am not trying to give the impression that I buy tailored suits. But I buy off the shelf and take them to my tailor for alterations, unless that store is going to do them for free (which is rare).
Not uncommon to have to get a suit adjusted after first tailoring. I have a couple custom made suits and I had to get it fitted at least 3 times. (the most expensive suits and shirts are the first to get a stain )
Like anything, do not give in until you are satisfied.
I just got back. They have already altered the length and I am happy with that. They are taking up the waist and I think everything will be fine after that. I have my fingers crossed!
I hate wearing a suit that doesn't fit! Good luck and glad they are getting you fixed up.
By the way, I had a pair a suit pants from my favorite suit that were a little short. I took them in to get altered. I told them to let them out two inches. When I got them home, they had taken them up two inches, and cut the excess. Now I have some really nice capri suit pants.

They are buying me new ones though!
That is funny right there!! I needed a laugh!
I think Nate hit it on the head it is "altering" not 'tailoring"!!! Thanks guys. I will post up some pictures of my modeling skills when I get to wear it!
