    Suit update (rant)

Some of you may remember the whole "redneck buying a suit" thing. Well I went to Jos A. Bank and purchased a suit. A few of you guys on here recommended them. Someone at the time mentioned that they had 70% off. This is true but you have to mention it first! Otherwise I guess they charge you like 800$ for a $240 suit. Then I had it tailored (sp?) and I went and picked it up yesterday. I was a little ticked about the whole thing. I am not real happy with how it fits. First the pants were way to short!! I am wearing it with boots and I am sure that some will say that is a no no, but I do not want the pants coming up half way up the boot top when I walk. Some folks told me that is how it is supposed to be. The way I see it I bought the suit and it is going to fit me like I want it to! They were also supposed to take the pants up some to fit my "athletic" figure! They are about two sizes too big. So back to the store I will go today to see if they can get it right. If anyone is in the market for a suit head over to the one in Keller today. I am sure I will bring their prices down when I walk in the door!

            1) Did you take the boots with you to the fitting?

            2) IMO it is kind of like getting half arse help at Academy. 99% of the people do it ONLY for the paycheck and really dont care. You want a PROPERLY tailored suit you need to spend the $ and see a REAL tailor.

I did try it on. They made some marks and the tailor did his work. Molly brought it by to me yesterday afternoon and I was not happy. So back I will go today!!

Why are you buying a suit?

                A new camo suit maybe?

I had my boots with me when I purchased the suit and they made the tailor marks on it. I made it very clear that I did not want the pants to be off the heel of the boot! For the money (I am sure there are way more expensive suits) I did not think it was this big a deal to get something to fit right. I am an average size guy (6'4'' 210lbs 34 waist). Oh well, they will get it right. Or they will have a big dumb hillbilly camping out at their "fu fu" store!

On the length. Was the tailor really old? Reason I ask, back in the day the style for suits was " no break". That ment the pants just hit the tops of the shoes and didnt have any wrinkle in them (the break). No break will ride up cause they are so short. Full break will come to the bottom of the heel. I always go full break. More of the style now. Also hate when my socks show when I walk.

                        Here is my input
                        - "its hard to take a cowpie and mold it into a bar of gold."

Good luck Mike and I would make them fit it until it is right. Make them long where it covers your boots sitting down just like a pair of jeans.

I am 6'4", 215lbs with 36" waist. I cant wear an off the rack suit to save my life.

PS - Neither of us is an "average size guy". The average 35yo male in the US is 5'10", 175lbs.
