We wanted to find out on the first so that we could prepare properly. I had just started vet school and money was tight, so we needed to make sure we made the proper choices. We were just impatient with the second.

I have a few friends that waited till the birth, seems like more are waiting now.

Congrats to ya, RdRdrFan and Cotton!

We let out three year old boy be a surprise. When it comes time to add another we will probably find out for the sake of planning. We already have a lot of boy stuff we saved. If it turns out to be a girl we will have to gather up some new stuff.

We didn't find out on either of our girls. Lots and lots of greens and yellows.

We found out we are having a girl last week. I think like others have said that finding out early is more fun because u can associate a name with the baby and start buying stuff. Between us and the grandparents, this kid is going to have more than she will ever know what to do with.

First of all, Congrats Cotton and RdRdrFan!!

We went traditional and chose the surprise route with the first one. Had a couple of false starts before the second one took and we decided to find out in advance. I agree with what others have said about going thru the miscarriages, I think it helped my wife emotionally to know.

My first kid was a total surprise. I did not want to know, but I think Christy knew and just wouldn't tell me. We looked on the last two.

At first I didn't want to know until the lady told me it was twins! Then I needed to know so I could make sure to have all the right stuff. Also with an ultrasound a month it wasn't hard to find out!!

Daughter who's an RN and her husband specifically told the doc not to let them know the gender of the kid . . . I asked why? She said that it's one of the few things in this world that can be a surprise. I thought, nice. They have a healthy baby boy named Thomas that is now 2 months old.

Our first kiddoe was a surprise and the baby turned out to be a boy who is now 30. Not sure if we found out on #2 (the RN daughter) and #3.

I think that it's just personal preferance.
