RIP Allan, (TX Rattler) and John (Tuthdoc). I was a pot stirrer when I first came on in '03 (went by FugitiveHunter by then). Everybody kinda knew everybody. I've learned so much about bows, hunting, deer, and everything else from this site. It's now my go-to source for information. Even though it's changes, still the best website out there. Can I have my 10,000 posts back from pre '06? =)

Remember the days
- when you could post something in the morning and you had the right answer by dinner?
- when someone asked you where you hunted it was because they wanted to compare notes not poach your deer?
- 1000+ word write-ups on hunts were shared and took you through every emotion?
- you knew as much about the guy and his family in Dallas as you did about your next door neighbor.
- when it was more of a happy family than a bustling city.
VE's, Tinks whrytin (pre advertising specialist), Hector and most of all Doc for sure!

I have been here through both crashes as well. Pre-crash TBH was a much smaller, friendlier and more respectful place. Haters were quickly outed by the possee of regulars. It was easier to keep up with things. Posts didn't fall to page three in twenty minutes. There were more people genuinely wanting to share their knowledge yet fewer know it alls. The campfire conversations could turn to football and politics and usually not get nuked. It was less commercialized and you didn't have to consult the sponsor guide before posting something for fear of listing a hunt or something for sale that conflicted in some way or another.
They say growth and change are good things, but I'd trade the new TBH for the old one in a heartbeat. I miss Toro John, the Night Prowler, homebrew cameras and the spirit of the javi.
I guess one thing good about the new TBH is there are fewer posts about Roos and Coast Guard Cutters.Last edited by Cull; 08-19-2010, 04:17 PM.
