Anyone heard of arrow speed interfering with a drop down rest?

Had a dealer talk me out of (or try to at least) a drop away rest for a 2008 PSE X-Force 6 because he says it's so fast that the fletching will hit the rest before it can fall all the way. Has anyone had this issue or is that even possible? I was wanting a QAD rest.

He suggested a Quick Tune 360 instead, which I'm not liking the reviews I found on it. It seems cheap and you have to replace parts or adjust it alot if you shoot alot.

If the rest is installed properly and it comes up within the last inch of your draw you shouldn't have a problem.

I shoot the qad from a reezen 6.5 it works great now that I have it set up correctly. Qad claims to test on a rig that shoots over 400 fps so even the xforce should be ok, if it's set up correctly.

I don't think your dealer knows what he's doing.

Now that's funny!!! Im not really familiar with that rest, but I shoot a drop away from NAP called the 2100, you can go to their website and SEE how a drop away works. And then find another dealer.

Maybe I'll buy the bow and put the rest on myself. It's a heck of a deal and I only plan on shooting it for this season and then I'll buy a new one after I see what comes out. I can't pass up a NIB $350 PSE.

Some folks just don't like or trust a drop away rest, I wouldn't say your dealer doesn't know his trade but I bet he ain't a fan of drop aways... Lots of folks fall into that basket... including me...

                    However...

The Quad properly set up is a good rest for hunting...

Not Acadmey or Cabelas is it? I've watched somebody set up a bow at one of these places one time, and it was totally screwed up.

I just put on a NAP Apache and it is easy to do. They have the instructions on the web sight.

Try a Limbdriver and a new dealer.

                              Fall-away not fast enough?

I wouldn't jump to the conclusion that this dealer is wrong, even Pete Sheply claims that alot of fall-away rests don't drop fast enough for some of today's speed bows. Chuck Adams goes so far as to reccomend using feathers with a fall-away due to this.
There's only a couple of rests that can't fail, several that rarely fail, and quite a few more that fail a little more frequently. Naturally, the rests with the most parts are more prone to failure.
Total vane clearance is more elusive than the current pool of bowhunters realizes.
