If you could go back in time and change........

one thing, what would it be?

I have often thought about this and there is really only one thing that I regret. I started college with the intent of being a Wildlife Biologist, as I have a huge passion for all things outdoors and a serious love for fishing and hunting. I got through my first year classes and then joined the military. It took me a while to get back to school and when I did I switched majors to a double major of Sociology/Criminal Justice Why did I switch? The hours would not interfere with my military career.

I regreted that decision as soon as I made it, but I do not regret serving my country. Maybe I could have delayed my entry into the service, but then I would not be where I am now with 18 years in. I have always wondered what could have been though, if I had persued my dream from the get go. I might be working the King ranch or something like rubbing elbows with Dr. Deer and Mr. Whitetail. Oh well, as soon as I purchase my ranch I will be content.

If I knew that I was going to be a "Lifer" in the Air Force, I would have gone with a flying job and never retired.

Wouldn't have partied quite so hard those first few years of college and took school a little more seriously. Would have saved me some time for sure

Man... there are so many things I'd change... but I 'spect the main one would be to have started saving for retirement earlier.

Maybe little things like setting my parents roof on fire when I was little but for the majority of my life, I wouldn't change the big things. Things happen for a reason.

I would change absolutely nothing. I couldn't be happier to be sitting exactly where I am right now with the "life" I have. Just like a fraction of a degree at the muzzle can change the down range impact of a bullet by feet, if I would have done one little thing different 20 years ago, I could be in a completely different spot now.

I live with no regrets for the past, but use the past as a reference for future decisions. Could I have chosen a better career path and made more money, bigger house, faster horses etc., probably so. But, I would not have my wife, Micah, Chase and Cami. I couldn't imagine having anything more ...

I would go back to the 18th hole at Ratliff Ranch Golf Club in Odessa and pull my head out of my butt and drop my ball in the CORRECT spot out of the hazard, finish the short par 5 with a Par or Bogey at worst and sinch up the Regional title (for both individual and team) and go on to state as one of the front runners for the team competition. Instead I let myself and my team down by not paying attention to what I was doing. Realized what I had done AFTER I finished the hole, called the penalty on myself and ended up DQ'd for that round, which cost me the individual title and my team the title and opportunity to go back to state by 1 stroke. Still haunts me to this day!

Sit down with both of my grand fathers, and tell them I love them. Never got the chance on either one before they passed on. You never know how much they mean to you, until they are gone.

I think the same things sometimes but always come back if I did not have that experience I would not be were I am now.

                              1. I would not study so much in college. I missed out on a lot of good stuff, b/c I was constantly studying. I think I could have done a better job balancing that out.

                              2. In college, I should been little more astute as to why that girl from Odessa asked me to come home to meet her parents.

                              I'm sure there are others . . . .
