I've done staffing sales/recruiting (which helps immensely when you're looking for new opps after the fact) and HVAC sales.
I'm a Certified Home Energy Auditor, and am currently starting my own company. Am I using my specific degree? I would say yes, because the basic business principles can be applied to pretty much any business across any industry.
BS in information systems. Since all the IT jobs went to India.. I have moved into business turns out, a lot of departments want someone in IT who understands the business or in my case... love having someone in business who can speak IT. (or get it done without red tape)

I have a nephew with an English degree that is a carpenter's helper. His father has a Master's in Rehab Counseling and works maintenance in a refinery.

Bachelors degree with a major in Health & PE and a minor in Biology. Taught and coached for 3 years (base salary to start was $8600 per year!) and did this for 3 years and then decided to make anything as far as money, I quit and went into the private sector.
Yes and No...Used to be a teacher and coach and have a health/history degree but now I am a firefighter so I dont use it even though I get paid more for having it,,,
