    seatbelt ticket question

we are having a heated discussion here at work. help me out. if you get a ticket for not wearing your seatbelt, is that considered a moving violation? will it go on your driving record?

I say no. what if you are a passenger or do not have a drivers license? how could it go on your record?

      I have had 2 in 3 years

No it will not , I got one last season for having the seatbelt under my arm instead of over my shoulder. Cost me a $180 and I was P******d . I also got one for pulling out of Round Rock donuts drive thru one morning , their drive thru pulls right out on a street . I pulled out , turned left and drove 100' to a stop sign. By the time I hit the stop sign I had my seat belt on. A cop sitting in the donut parking lot came out behind me and pulled me over. He saw me putting my seat belt on but he said "5 feet or 5 miles if you are on a public street you have to have it on " What an A**

I was in Williamson county court fighting the ticket , while I was there I estimated they collected $12,000 , yes $12,000 for seat belt violations. This was in about a 3 hour period. It is a Money Grab !!!!

Hey Alec, if you'd given him the donuts. You wouldn't have got a ticket.
Just remember, cop spelled backwards, is Donut.

I sometimes eat lunch in my parked SUV, and I've always wondered if I could get ticketed for sitting in my 'running', parked vehicle without my seatbelt on......anyone?

No, it's a Money grab by a Nanny state government !! As a responsible adult I do not have to be fined for not putting a seat belt on. People do a lot of stupid things that do not have to be regulated by the government. Go to court one morning and see just how much money these courts bring in for "Stupid People" not wearing their seat belts. It is a staggering amount of revenue. Spend more time taking care of crime , drunk drivers and other more serious offenses.

Actually, it's a "You know that thing about liberty and freedom from an oppressive government you read about in the Constitution? yeh that doesn't apply anymore because only we know what's best for you and will protect you from yourself"...violation.
If they truly gave a crap about your safety and well being, they would ban all mini-vans, stop putting stop lights up on highways, and suspend licenses for 5 years of anyone caught 'texting'.

Driving is a privilege, not a right...

                              exactly...

since its not a moving violation, there are no points on your liscense, dont wear it. Also be sure and mention to your insurance agent, you dont wear your seatbelt, I bet you get a change in policy ;-)

just keep paying the stupid tax
