Like most things in archery it all goes down to how big your budget is (or how much are you willing to bust your backbone to pay credit cards) I used the cheap Bushnell they sell at Academy for around $100 and it does it's job when it comes to archery (10-50yds). I recently upgraded to the Nikon Laser 600 and happy is an understatement on how I feel around this bud. If you want to go higher.. I would go with the mentioned above by Shean's evil hillbilly twin... oh wait... Hi HD1234!!

I have a Nikon 400 or 440 that looks like this one, I paid $200 at Cabelas and you may find it cheaper elsewhere if you look around. I wear it around my neck on a leather shoelace and bang it pretty hard and it always comes up working well. Small is better. The case that comes with it is nothing special, if you want to keep it in a padded case, Klein has a small, padded electrician's meter case for sale at Home Depot that it fits in nicely. Both the rangefinder and the case come in black, but a couple cans of Krylon camo paint (mask off the optics 1st) can make it whatever you want it to be. I carry it in there when elk hunting for protection. 8x optics on it are not bad as a monocular in a pinch, either.
