    Deer Proofing

Looking for a home remedy to deer proof my plants, went to Lowe's and they wanted $20.00 for a small bottle of that stuff.

It's killing me that we have to have this conversation in Texas. I travel to New York and New Jersey a lot and they have special deer resistant plants, trees, electronic devices etc, etc, etc.

There is an easier way! Or, at least there was.

None of that stuff works with my urban deer. The best thing is to just plant stuff they don't like to eat. Even then, in a drought all bets are off.

Some things I have found that they will generally leave alone...

          mountain laurels
          salvia
          rosemary
          phlox
          mexican bird of paradise
          firebush

With the right selection of plants you can still have a bright colorful summertime yard.

One line of electric wire with aluminum foil wrapped about every 20 feet. Put a glob of good creamy peanut butter on the foil. deer love peanut butter and cannot resist a lick. have been keeping deer out of my garden now for 8 years

Irish Spring soap works pretty good. drill a hole in a bar and hang it in the peach trees...
