Our deer do the same. Now we only have 80 acres of woods on a 150 acre plot, so they lack sufficient cover. This translates into them spreading out during the warmer months in order to keep from depleting what little food there is in Karnes county. Normally, they will roam about a mile in every direction for a few months and come back towards the end of summer to get geared up for the rut and colder weather. My most active hunting dates span from October through mid November, because I may see bucks I've never seen before just passing through to get back to their home spots. I know people may think this is the rut happening, but I normally don't see rutting activity until early December when it cools off
