Because braid is poo on baitcasting reels... I only use power pro on spinning reels, but for my baitcasters it's Cajun Red. Depending on how much you fish, it's the bee's knees for a few months, then you gotta change it out because of memory and abrasions.

I still use go ol' stren clear florescent blue. Ive never tried any of the new hyped up lines. Hell I even caught the sail in my pic on 30lb stren. Stren 12-14lb for my bay/lake rods and berkley big game on my offshore rods--no more that 50lb. Leaders as needed anywhere from 25lb mono to wire. Ive never had any problems with these lines and I fish alot.

I have used Berkley Fireline 8 lb diameter/20 lb test for years and have always been pleased.

30lb power pro! It gives me fits at times, but you can feel a trout pee on the line! I have also noticed that broken in line has a lot better attitude than brand new line.

power pro is the best braid for baitcast reels. Power Pro stays round, doesnt get flat and bury into the spool. I went to the innovative textiles factory and saw how they braid their line. Power Pro is all I use.

If you want strong in a mono, stay with the P-line.

I have used nearly every brand and type of line made in the 27 years I've fished for a living, and Big Game has proven to be the most consistent and reliable.
I've never fished in salt water so my experience is limited to fresh water.
As far as any kind of braid is concerned, I just don't like it at all, especially around wood, which is the type of cover I'm around most.

Come on, Rocky, spool up some 50 pound PowerPro on your Carolina rig rod with a 25 pound P-line mono leader and try her out. If you're worried about the wood, go up to 80.

I can't imagine C-riggin' without braid. And I imagine you've tried it. Are you worried about breaking it???

Overall, cost-wise, ease of availability, strength, castability, Big Game is hard to beat. Kinda like a 30-06.

First, I never throw a Carolina rig.
Second, since I don't throw a Carolina rig, why would I throw braid?
The only thing I think I might use braid for is frog fishing, and since it's about a 50% hookup ratio bait for me, I rarely throw a frog.
Braid gets in the cracks in the timber and wedges, causing me fits.
                                I hate it!
