Come down to the coast and try kayaking for reds in the skinny water.
I used to get burned out grinding for trout all day, my kayak has been a refreshing change for me.

been gung-ho on hunting especially with the grandkids, but had a head-on collision last december 7th and my wife and i couldnt monopolize on our $2000each spots at the lease last year. its still pretty hard to feed and to get around but im looking foward to this season after doing lots of soul searching during my time off from the accident. on a good note one of the grandsons killed his personal best thanks to his great guide (granny) ha!ha! this is our fourth year under a 20% protien program so it should really be good after last year letting all the good bucks walk (mature 8 pts only last yr) but on the other hand my champion bass boat hasnt had the soot blowed out of it since last june i guess i might as well sell it?

No loss of interest here. Deer season to turkey season to pig season and back to deer season. It's year round!
Might I suggest changing things up. Try something new, like maybe a new way to hunt or new weapon of choice. Try videoing your hunts. Maybe you'll find by changing things up it will be fun again!

My life has changed that is for sure! I used to take every opportunity I had to hunt & fish whatever was available for hunting or fishing at the time. Now I have a wife and son that I would much rather spend time with than chase turkeys, pigs, or fish. Deer hunting will always be a passion of mine, even though I am not willing to leave my wife at home every weekend with our son while I go deer hunting right now, I am sure the time will come when he is old enough and we can all go spend some time at the lease on the weekends during deer season. I look forward to those days, but rejoice for the days the lord has given me so far. I used to fish bass tournaments just about every weekend throughout the spring/summer in high school, I have not been bass fishing in about 5 years now, but have recently gotten the ITCH to go!

I will never hunt hogs again!!!!
Seriously, put down the weapon and pick up your camera then. Just being out in the woods, being one with nature, and seeing how close you can get to the critters is what it is all about. Pull the trigger and it is all over.
I still like killing and eating stuff too much!!!Last edited by Skinny; 06-03-2010, 12:50 PM.
