go to google earth and zoom in on the property in question

then find the funnels , bedding areas, and set your stand based on the most common wind direction

Thanks, fellas! All very good advice. There is definitely a string of trees at the 2nd layer away from the creek. That's where I was planning on setting up a tripod or ladder stand. I want to avoid the popup blind in that bottom because I have a feeling it will be out of the wind and really hot.

      Any other advice/suggestions/strategies?

It all depends on deer travel and most important the prevailing winds in the area.

Okay, thanks for all the input fellas!

Here's an image I created of the area I'm working on. The setup is a creek running west to east, with a draw running north creating a funnel area for deer that moved from bedding areas to feeders 1/2 mile away on the north side of the creek.

Given a prevailing southwesterly wind, where would you choose to put a stand/tripod?

A: on the west side of the draw, just north of the creek area.
B: on the far north side of the funnel, as the draw opens up into a wide, flat area.
C: on the east side of the draw, north of the creek.
          D: ???

          What say you?

I like "C" - possibly "B" but for some reason "C" sticks out to me.

I think i'd go just below "B" and put a tripod / treestand on either side of the creek.

You take B and I'll take A & C! Lol- just kidding. Good luck w/ your setup!
