Here's what I've narrowed it down to. Anyone that knows scopes and can help me out here? I'd much appreciate more opinions...!
I'm leaning toward the Nikon. Only thing I don't like about it is it only comes in that "tight" duplex reticle.

    Nikon:
SWFA is an optics manufacturing specializing in rifle scopes built for tactical, hunting, and long range shooting known for quality and precision optics.

    Redfield:

I have a buckmaster 4x12x50 on my Thompson icon 30TC and love it. This is the hardest kicking gun I have shot and it has held up great.
I have a monarch 3x9x40 on my 6mm with the bdc and it's a great scope as well. I don't think you will have any complaints about a higher end nikon.

Well I'm looking at the prostaff. Want a 40mm max cause I need it low on my gun. I shoot much better with my whole cheek into the stock and not my bottom jaw like it is with the high rings needed for a 50mm.

I have several Pro Staffs, one Buckmasters, and one Monarch. I really like Nikon scopes and use them a lot. I have never had a failure with one. I think Nikon makes some of the best scopes on the market for any given price range.

I own 3 of them and you are right about the low light on the 50mm. I have slaughtered a number of pigs in the low light with them.

When I was in the market, I looked at a lot. In fact went to my local BPS
to check them out. Lots of good ones available but for me the Nikon
ProStaff was it. Put it on a Savage 99 and never looked back!

I've enjoyed the 3-9x40 Monarch that's on my .257, it cost about $100 less than the equivalent Leupy VariX-III at the time........I also have Monarch ATB 10x50 binocs, and one of their Spotter XL spotting scopes......so I guess you could say I like Nikon products.

                        No complaints here.
I own 1 Pro Staff, 4 Monarchs and even a Nikon range finder.

                        Good bang for your buck

I bought a Monarch 5-20X44 a couple years ago to put on my 25-06, it has been a good scope for hunting... It has the wrong reticle (BDC reticle) in it for long range shooting IMO as the lines of the circles are too large....

Last year bought a Vortex Viper 6.5-20X44 and will not buy another Nikon, the Vortex is hands down a better scope than the Nikon and cheaper to boot.... Not to mention they come with one of the best warranties in the business.... If your interested in one of these you need to contact Arrowsmith here on TBH, you will not get a Vortex scope cheaper anywhere!!!! Period..... Mike will take care of TBH'ers

I like my low end Nikon (BuckMaster and Monarch lines) far better than my Leopold VXII and VXIII's respectively. The Nikons are brighter at dusk and dawn.

I am interested in checking out some Vortex in the near future also. I have not used one but I hear good enough things to intrigue me.

I have 3 nikons and love em. Yes, they are better than burris. Heck I have two aetecs and they are better than burris. I went to buy a burris when I bought my first aetec. the burris was not as clear and didnt gather as much light as the aetec. I went to academty right at closing time so I could take both scopes outside. big difference...in price and quality. the aetec was better AND cheaper.
