Any complaints/comments on Nikon Rifle Scopes?

I'm thinking of putting a Nikon 3-12-40 Pro Staff. I loved my old Aetec but the new Aetec's are just "different" in a bad way t me. To much rubber, plastic and adjustments.on my new Rem CDL 300 mag but have never owned a Nikon. I'm wanting quality as I can get but not going to spend the $ that a Leupold or some others cost.
Any tips for an affordable gun for a 300mag for whitetail and mule deer hunting from 50-400 yards?

I think they are one of the better scopes around. I would use them if it weren't for Leupold & Trijicon. I prefer them over Nikons. You may also want to look at Redfield, they ware bought by Leupold in the past year or so, and seem very nice.

In that price range, Nikons are pretty tough to beat.

I love both of mine. For the money they are hard to beat.

I have that same scope on a 223 and it's been great.

That's not a bad looking scope either. Thanks for giving me even more options to think about. lol

the monarch's are really good and am assuming the prostaff is on par with the lower vx-i or vx-II line in the leupy line-up.

I can tell you that the Weaver grand slam line has perfromed well for me.

on my cz 30-06 i narrowed it down to a nikon and a bushnell....i went with the bushnell elite firefly and i loved it. nikons are great scopes....but i liked the bushnell alot better seemed more clear to me.

save up and buy ya a Zeiss with the rapid z reticle!!!! im shoppin for one for my 300 win mag....400-500 yards will be much easier with it.

I have one on my Weatherby Mark V .257 and my Accura muzzleloader. Great scope for the money!

...the rumor i hear is that the glass for the grand slam, monarch and leupy all come from the same japan mfg.

never heard of swaro doing turnkey work for weaver though??

Yeah I read about them in a magazine, and then ran into one at a store. Looked at it and it seemed like a real nice scope for the price. Plus having Leupold as a parent company couldn't hurt things any. I think they are going to keep it as a more cost friendly line.
