    Good times with Pop

I headed back east (Pennsylvania) for the opening weekend of trout season for the first time in over 8 years. Got to spend some quality time with my 60yo Dad. I don't get those moments much anymore, since we live so far away. Usually I am playing the role of "Dad" to my kids when we are around each other. This was truely a highlight in my life. Spending 2 days on the streams with Pop, and 3 nights at our cabin with old friends. There was a time when Pop and I were sitting on a rocky beach casting one at time under an overhanging tree back under the roots into a 4' deep crystal clear pool.

Guys, our dad's are not getting any younger. Get out and enjoy time with thim one-on-one at least once a year. My wife's dad passed only 60-days after being diagnosed with brain cancer, so don't push it off another year.

Good post...y'all have fun. I know exactly what you mean as I live 1,000 miles away from my dad. We were able to meet up last weekend which was great though.

      Good luck fishing!

Awesome Mud! I lost my father quickly and unexpectedly. I would give anything to have the chance that you did. Don't wait another 8 my friend, do it everytime you can.

Last year he broke his foot, and it really slowed him down. Pushing him around in a wheel chair over the winter WOKE me up. I booked a trip back to fish with him with my next paycheck. Might try to meet him for some fall salmon fishing somewhere, and get him out with me next fall in the tree. Last year when he was out here to hunt with me, his crutches kept us under 100yds from the truck. This coming fall I hope to get him back into the good hunting areas so he can see the Missouri Rut first hand.

You are both lucky men. He's been gone for many years but I would give everything I have to have one day with my Dad.

Way to go Jesse. Did you cook them fish up or did you do Sushi style?

Glad you were able to spend some quality time with your dad. Looks like y'all had a great time indeed. Seems like the older I get the more important family becomes. Thanks for sharing.

GREAT post...I love being in the woods or on the water with my dad. When my brother, his son, my dad, my two sons and me get together - all three generations, those are even better!
