I'm glad I'm not the only one that feels this way.

I'm not just talkin about this incident. I'm talkin about all the little punk *** kids that think they can do whatever they want whenever they want and dont have to listen or do what they are told.

OK, regardless of what this kid did, I think a paddling was more in order. This is unacceptable on every leverl! God be with the teacher who doe this to my child.... I promise you this, I'll make the news......

I quit teaching because of students and parents who raise students like above stated. Every night I was coming home on edge (almost became an alcoholic) asking myself, "what is going to stop me from beating the crap out of certain students?" What is worse in my experience is that administrations don't want to deal with problem kids either. I kept sending my so called problem children to the office because that was the policy. After a month of doing so, I get reprimanded for not working with the same students who were a constant disruption. I told them its my job to teach all my students not spend 1/2 my class time telling one or a few to behave.

If MORE PARENTS would discipline their kids these type of problems wouldn't exist! REMEMBER PEOPLE.........SCHOOL IS FOR LEARNING, NOT BABYSITTING and TEACHING VALUES that you should teach your kids! Its the parents fault the kids are as worthless as they are nowadays!!!

Man, y'all guys can get a lot of info from a cell phone video .....I dont cares WHAT the kid did....that teacher should be in jail for assault....the kid was cowering down the entire time.....it did look staged, but I did see a couple solid hits....reguardless of what happened , a 40 yo female kicking, punching and slapping a child is BS with a capitol B......something smells fishy here

I didn't watch the video but I do know that, had I ever gotten my *** whooped by a teacher, I would have received much worse when I got home. Maybe that's why I walked the line?

Do you think the parent would have ever laid a hand on him? This is still not the answer but a good old fashioned butt whipping from the principal or head coach would do wonders I bet!

Our coach in Jr High would take you into the equipment cage and lock the door. You did not come out until lesson learned.

I had a coach smack me so hard with a paddle one time I fell over the bench I was leaning on and hit my head on a locker...and looking back I deserved it for being a smart ***..

Had a shop teacher that could do that while he was still sitting in his chair! Dude could swing a board I tell ya!

All SHE did was put a whoopin on a little punk that liked to run his mouth as a tough guy. You can tell by the commentary from his mother that his parents don't give a crap. Oh, and where is the absentee father. I say good for the teacher if it straightens this kid out. He got his butt kicked by a girl!!!!! Relay that to the homeboys on the block. LOL

Exactly. I can't believe this has become about what the kid did or didn't do. Kids do what kids do, but there are supposed to be ADULTS watching them at school. There's never an excuse for an adult to hit a kid with a closed fist around his face. And if it was done to my kid, I agree with you, I'd be on the news.

My guess is most of you have never disciplined your kids in this way so I don't understand why you'd think it was acceptable for a teacher.

Looked like they were playing to me....not a good video. Charter schools are for the kids that cant cut it in regular school.

Edit after reading other posts.......if the kid was making fun of a "challenged" person then he recieved just punishment in my book.
Before anyone starts hating, let me state that my sis in law of 13 years is challenged & and i would do the same if i caught someone making fun. I have also sponsored, coached, and participated in years of special olympics. So not only does the kid need a thrashing but maybe the parents also for not raising their child correctly.

All that said "if" the kids was harrassing a "special" kid.

My wife comes in just about every day with a chunk missing out of her arm or 4 to 5 inch scratches going down her arms, bruises from being hit, bit and kicked by "Her Kids" (mentally challenged)that she works with in the school district. Even after induring all that, There is NOBODY even looks wrong at those kids. She is like a lioness, and while not physically, she will take you apart verbally(with nice language), and after it is all said and done, you will wish she had just went ahead and stomped on you and got it over with. Mentally challenged kiddos are her soft spot. As stated, there are two sides to every story, heck it looked like the kid was laughing in the first part of the video, the other side needs to be heard!

I have never heard that. All of the charter schools around here are full of really good kids. I think that they still have waiting lists to get in some of them. Maybe it is different where you are.

To me it looked like they were playing. You could see the kid laughing and smiling. I watched it a few times and didn't see any hard connecting blows. It does go to show how you can leave yourself vulnerable to the worst thing anyone could make of any one situation.

So let me get this straight: You where able to gather from a 3 min post interview that the mother doesn't care and the father is not around. You must be physic, becuz, I got none of that. What if his dad is overseas in the military, etc?

This is a teacher who we, as parents, place our trust in the safety of our children. It's not her place to so much as lay a hand on one of his hairs! And why are you trying to make him out to be a thug? Becuz he wears his hair different from your kids? Not everyone from the projects is thugs or "homeboys". If that were the case, I would of never posted on this site. You say you're glad the teacher whooped up on him. I disagree wholeheartedly. What she did was plant a seed of mistrust in authoritative figures. You think he's a menace to society now. Wait till he grow some "horns" and carrys this experience in his later years.
Kids will be kids. I'm sure none of us on the green screen were saints.
