What The Heck Are These? Deer Skull Has Devil Teeth!!

Will brought over the skull from my buck I shot this year. He was so kind to let me utilize his beetles and they did a GREAT job. When he handed it back to me he said "Check this out. I've never seen anything like this before!"
He pointed to the jaw and there are 2 bizarre teeth coming out of the front part of the jaw bone! I shot a devil buck! What the heck are they? Anyone seen this before?

It was a mature buck, so don't say baby teeth. I've shot a couple of deer before and I've never seen this on any deer. What gives? Do I need to have an exorcism done before I put it on the plaque?

I'd like to say it's some kind of tissue cell gone wrong during the dna transcripton phase that produced another set of teeth, but would need to look closer...beats the living HELL outta me. I'd check with the TPW, they are alwasy looking for weird things to ponder over....antlered does, white deer etc...

I've seen this before, I believe it was in a Buckmasters magazine several years ago. I can't remember what it was other than a couple extra teeth.

        That's cool!!

It's probably the same thing as when a person is born with a tail or six toes or something like that. Occasionally, an animal will be born that has some odd ancestral trait that is not normally expressed in modern individuals. The genes are there for all deer to grow canine teeth but these genes are normally dormant. For whatever reason, a dormant gene gets turned on and the trait reappears. In this case, your buck grew canine teeth.

Vampire deer. Better watch your back on the way into your blind this year. You know how Vampires multiply....

Nevermind, I just read where you said it was off a mature deer. I thought you were asking what the skull was from. Pretty wild!
