Does CPS not give a crap?

Two Saturday's ago I witnessed the following, went to Child Protective Services website to where I could file a complaint, I copied it word for word on what we witnessed that night.

    ---------------------------

This past weekend a friend and I witnessed 3-4 underage drunk girls play in the street and driveway of the neighbors house. We both heard one of the girls say that "the vodka is burning my throat." I don't know if CPS is already involved with the home since I have seen on numerous occasions a "caseworker lookalike" visiting the residence. The home address in which the underage girls came out of is ********. It was quite disturbing to watch these girls run down the street and at one time all of them took off their shirt to again run down the street... ? How do I know they were underage? It was quite obvious. I do know that the lady living their with her daughter and son is disabled, however, I do not know her disability.

If you have any additional questions please feel free to email/call me.
    (information left)

    thank you,
    Lee

    THIS WAS THEIR RESPONSE

    Dear Mr. Glidewell:

Should you suspect abuse/neglect of children, please contact the DFPS Abuse Hotline at 1-800-252-5400.

    Thank you, OCA staff

    -------------------------

Now for the rant - WHY WOULD I NEED TO CALL AFTER I JUST EXPLAINED EXACTLY WHAT I SAW?? I left my information if further questions were needed, WHY do I have to call them?
Their response puts the responsibility back on the complainant, which IS WRONG! Does that get them off the hook if something happens in the future at that household?

As you can see, I'm still VERY miffed about this. Even my pops, a retired LEO was irked when I told him about it...

What would the TBH braintrust do? Call? Leave it as is?

    Ok, rant over.

If its happening all the time and the're running up and down the street (in public) then call the police. Just my $.02 but being arrested or having something far worse happen hit by car, get in the car and wreck have the wrong person drive by and take advantage of the situation etc. At least then the other girls parents will be notified.

This is the first time I've ever seen this from them... However, only one of the girls live there. I'm guessing she's about 9-10 and the rest of the girls were maybe 12-14yrs old. Yrs ago after I had bought my house I just happened to look up the website that shows where people lived that had convictions of sexual assaults and that house happened to be marked. The husband/father does not live at that house, it's just the disabled mother and the two HELLIAN's. They'll cuss their mother out in the middle of the street and there is nothing that the mother can do...

Call, and let them know of the response as well. Call local LEO as well. It's a shame those youngsters don't know any better, more added to the future generation, what a shame

District Attorney, Sheriff, local news, go up the food chain of the department you first notified and make all communications available to the news and others...

just for them being drunk, person in their charge would be responsible for something like child endangerment, contributing to the delinquency of a minor and the kids could be popped for MIP....

Easy there killer some of us actually work for these government agency's

as for the orginal poster..... if you used the email contact from the DFPS page it says "DO NOT USE THIS FORM TO REPORT ABUSE OF CHILDREN, PEOPLE WHO ARE ELDERLY, OR PEOPLE WHO HAVE DISABILITIES Please call the 1800 number."

If you got a email back from OCA it stands for Office of Consumer Affairs. What that means is that you would email OCA if you had a problem with CPS, Department of Aging and Disability (DADS)..etc They are similar to internal affairs for LEO.

You need to call the 1-800 number. They want more documentation. such as how many girls there really was, do they all live there? What are their ages? did you actually see them drinking anything?...

For real estate people location, location, location is the hot button.....for these types of agencies it is documentation documentation, documentation...

Shouldn't you be talking with her mother before you bring CPS into the picture? Of course, I am assuming you have not already done this and this is not a regular occurrence with the girls.

I understand your interest in calling CPS, but if you think that foster care/state custody will be an improvement for these kids, I'd encourage you to think again.

Call the local police next time so that it can be documented and verified in a police report. The police will report it to CPS. If the children are left alone and they are underage and drunk, the police will take care of it.
