Whats the point of the thread, Leon?

Its an interesting thing that there aren't a lot of threads linking some awesome job a cop did..

Its a bit like the media coverage og the troops in Iraq..

    Just sayin...

No doubt this was not justified! I am sure he will not only lose his job over this but be prosecuted as well and be found personally liable for any and all damages. There has to be more to this story...I wonder if it was a personal issue between the two of them? Camera speaks for itself though and there is no justification for that kind of behavior, by anyone.

I see no issue with this type of post. LE are not beyond reproach if they do something wrong. Same with Game Wardens or even troops if the issue is bad enough.

I don't think Leon is calling anyone out, just asking for opinions on it. If it's in the news, it's fair game...

I'm confused how this contributes anything positive to TBH. All of these LEO threads tend to get old after awhile, just saying!

I haven't been a cop for several years, but used to teach Use of Force in Police Academy's. I would have used this tape to educate officers on how NOT to effect an arrest. Regardless of what precipitated the arrest, this was just stupid and uncalled for.

Leon is a good dude..I don't think he is calling anyone out either..No on e would argue that they are not beyond reproach.. I was just raising the question of of what is the point..Its a shock and awe thread.. And doesn't have a positive impact on anyones day..

But it does highlight a negative event that has no context in relation to the overwhelmingly positive contributions of the profession.. Thats all I'm sayin..

I think we need to start regulating batons.
                Batons are dangerous.
We need background checks and waiting periods.

Maybe they should give the beat-ee a baton and let him and the cop go at it for 10 minutes, then call it even.

So you're just gonna turn a blind eye to it? To me police officers are the homefront unsung heros. But in every group, as someone stated, there are bad apples. Thank God there are good cops out there.

I certainly see your point, but couldn't the same be said for any kind of "negative news" that gets posted.

What they don't show just prior was the driver deliberately swerving into a crowd of nuns.

go read the cops lawyer's statement:
"I want to caution people not to rush to judgement. It was a situation in which during a traffic stop, the suspects fled and did not stop for the officer. The did not comply with the officer's command to turn around and put their hands over their heads. It was 4am in the morning and a third person was coming out of the house. The officer believed that he was in a dangerous situation." ~Ed Wanderling, Atty for Officer James Mandarino

"Every law enforcement officer holds his or her powers through the public trust, and this defendant's senseless act of rage against an unarmed citizen constitutes an offensive violation of that trust," State's Attorney Anita Alvarez said at a news conference.

I'm not in law enforcement, and i've never even played a cop on t.v. But, i don't see how any real conclusion can be drawn from that video. Other than that the officer did whack the driver many times. We don't know all that led up to this conclusion. It was 4 a.m., multiple occupants, etc. I'M CERTAINLY NOT SAYING IT WAS RIGHT, OR JUSTIFIED, OR ANYTHING CLOSE TO THAT. I am saying that we don't have all the information in that video.

Nothing good happens after 2 a.m. Remember that kids....

X2. I would need to see the entire dash cam footage before I could make a decision.
