on our place in Del Rio, we used a little honda genny and a hilti drill then a regular t-post driver to put the post in... no concrete needed... now I still wouldn't want to do miles of fence this way, but for simple things like feeder pens, or a regular fence where maybe one in 5 or 10 posts is in rock... otherwise, rent the compressor and tools...

The drill is heavier than it looks, all in all it worked out pretty good!!!!
Where the heck were you the last two years?........I'd have paid $150/day to not have to go through the beating of some of the rock pen builds we've done the past few years. I had no idea they were that cheap to rent....
I know how my next one will be built......

got a neighbor that used a rotary hammer to punch 1 1/2 inch holes into solid rock.. the tee post slipped in just right.... thats what he used for his permiter fench... for his pens he used a hammer drill with a 3/4 inch bit and 3/4 inch rebar for the post... worked out pretty well.. when i get ready to do my stuff i will do it the same but i think i will experment with a wire cage about three foot circle and about 3 1/2 feet high filled with rocks.. they say its pretty sturdy and gets the rocks out of the way... let you know about the end of the summer if it works... also the rock your talking about is probally limestone and it fairly soft... good luck and let us know what you go with...

if you concrete them in you dont have to go as deep as normal....we went a foot and a half and conreted em and those things aint comin out anytime soon lol....this was in mason county on our ranch that i think is where rock was invented lol goo dluck amigo and take a lot of water lol
Jeeze... You dont need a jackhammer. Just give a manual T-Post driver to the dude on the other side of the fence. Problem solved!
