I've been a stay at home dad for the last 13 years with 3 boys. The oldest is 16 youngest is 10. It seems as though as you get over a few hurdles and think it will get easier, up pop more and more. Wouldn't trade it though.
I just hope they appreciate it down the road.

You did your job. Since when did child care become a "man card" issue? I have done similarly many, many times.
