I hope the NEW RUMOR is correct!!!! Rumor is the Ole Jerry is going to make a end run on getting the National Finals Rodeo moved from Vegas after their contract is over...

I don't believe that will ever happen. I don't blame Jerry for trying, but they're not getting that away from Vegas. People go there for the NFR, but they also go for the Cowboy Xmas and everything else that goes with Vegas. They sell the Thomas and Mack Center out every night, but there's no way they could sellout Jerry world for every rodeo.

That would be great. But it's all about money, so the only way it could be done is if the money draw was bigger. I don't see how we could beat Vegas.

the only way that would happen and it is not out of the realm of possiblity, is for the city of Las Vegas and sponsors tied to Vegas ie Casino's, to either significantly reduce or not renew the sponsorships. With the way the local economy is right now thats not far fetched. It would be hard to replace the Atmosphere that Vegas creates. Cowboy Christmas and all the other rodeo related stuff will follow.

Vegas is just an integral part of the NFR scene/event...The actual rodeo itself except for the entry is wham/bam/thankyoumaam...they get in and get out of the Thomas Mack...then on to the nightly awards/buckle bunnies at the Gold Coast...cowboy christmas...it's the only time of year that Cowboy hats and boots dominate Vegas...I can't see it ever moving anywhere else, ESPECIALLY some big box Superdome...

Its kinda funny you say that......Oklahoma City used to say the same thing many years ago after holding the event for 20 years running... But in all truthfulness, thats when rodeoing was more about a way of life and winning a buckle not about all the glitz and glamour.
